EDUCATION INITIATIVE RECEIVES TREMENDOUS RESPONSE FOR BOLD, RESPONSIVE IDEAS FROM VOICES ACROSS THE COUNTRY

September 20, 2018 Pathway 2 Tomorrow: Local Visions for America’s Future (P2T) received 240 submissions in response to its call for bold, locally responsive and innovative ideas to transform education outcomes.

Hanna Skandera, former Secretary of Education for the State of New Mexico and founder of P2T, said “We are encouraged by the tremendous response and appreciative of our partners and supporters for encouraging submissions from a diversity of voices from across the country.

We are at a pivotal moment in education. There is a clear need to build on foundational principles of high standards, accountability, equity, and choice, while needing bolder, bigger ideas championed by brave leaders. We are optimistic that some of these innovative ideas will inspire fresh approaches to fuel faster progress. It is clear from the response that there is a broad commitment to improve our education system from all perspectives.”

P2T received 240 proposals from 33 states representing all geographical regions of the United States, including both urban and rural solutions. The response illustrates that idea generation and a desire to continue bridging educational divides is growing and representative of students, parents, classroom teachers, entrepreneurs, non-profit leaders, business executives, K12 and higher education leaders as P2T received proposals from each of these groups.
